Nike Fuel Band Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Nike Fuel Band - Assignment Example As such, this paper seeks to describe how Nike Fuel Band is currently utilizing each of the components of the IMC mix mentioned above. Nike, a giant in manufacturing and selling athletic and other sporting related products has announced a new and more colourful Nike+ FuelBand SE that will be available on 6th November 2013. According to Berg (2013), ââ¬Å"this product enables users to track individual sessions and see the points earned in real time. The band is still largely based around Fuel points.â⬠The image below shows how the fuel band looks like. Given that this is a new product in the market, Nike ought to utilize the IMC Promotional Mix in order to successfully market the product to the targeted audiences. Advertising is a very effective strategy that can be used by Nike in order to market this new product. As stated by Kotler & Armstrong (2010), advertising can reach masses of geographically dispersed people at low cost and it enables the seller to repeat messages. For instance, television advertising can reach huge audiences and this is the reason why this strategy is ideal for this new product. Nike is also given the opportunity to say something positive about the brand and it can use integrated media such as print as well as broadcasting services to advertise this product to the targeted customers across the globe. Direct marketing involves the use of SMS, direct mail, online marketing as well as telephone and it is designed to promote dialogue between the marketing team and the consumer (Kotler & Armstrong, 2010). In order for Nike to successfully utilise this strategy, the marketers need to identify the people they can target in the first place and then compile a list. This can be a very effective strategy since it is intended to build one to one relationships between the marketers and the customers of this product. The other strategy that can be used is that Nike can target institutions of learning or other important gatherings specifically meant for sport and try to create personal contacts with enthusiasts in sporting activities. This contact list can then be used to send direct messages to the targeted customers so that they may be attracted to buy this new product. The other effective strategy is the use of internet marketing. ââ¬Å"This is the application of the internet and related digital technologies to achieve marketing objectives,â⬠(Strydom, 2004, p. 240). The main advantage of using this particular strategy is that the company can be in a position to reach a wide range of people located in diverse backgrounds. The internet is fast and it enhances marketing communication in various ways. It enables the company to carry out market research and it can also enable the marketers to interact directly with their customers regardless of the distance that may exist between them. Through the use of specially designed website, Nike can appeal to the interests of as many people as possible since research has sho wn that online business has significantly gained prominence over the past years. The other advantage for Nike in using this strategy is that it has a two way communication channel such that the marketers can get feedback from the customers about their perceptions towards the new Nike FuelBand. Sales promotion is a strategy that seeks to attract the customers and offers them strong incentives to buy the product (Kotler &

How the Associated Press News influences US and how they are playing a Research Paper

The media as an industry has been a key player in the transfer of information from one part of the world to another or the rest of the world. The Associated Press is one organization that enjoys international presence with a remarkable resource and customer base to its advantage in fulfilling its mission. This paper will focus on analyzing how the Associated Press News influences the United States of America and how the organization impacts the globalized world. Historical Background and Operating Logistics of the Associated Press The Associated Press (AP), formally New York Associated Press (NYAP), is a news agency that is owned and mainly operated by Americans, established in 1846. The organization was formed by five individual dailies based in New York with an aim of sharing the costs associated with transmitting news. The five daily newspapers that founded AP include New York Sun (the actual originator of the idea), the Express, the Herald, Journal of Commerce, and Courier and Enquirer. Other dailies that joined the five with time included the Tribune (1849) and The New York Times (1851). At the time of its establishment, AP needed to transmit news of the Mexican War, and this was supposed to be accomplished by the use of telegraph, boat and horse express services. In a Supreme Court case, in 1900, involving the Associated Press and Inter Ocean Publishing Company, it was ruled that the former was a public utility that was operating in trade restraint, a factor that led the organization to shift its base to New York from Chicago. This reason for the shift was because corporation laws in New York better favored cooperative organizations. Under the leadership of Melville Stone, the organizationââ¬â¢s standards included impartiality, integrity and accuracy. Later, Kent Cooper came to establish news bureaus in the Middle East, South America and Europe. St one oversaw the introduction of the telegraph typewriter in newsrooms. The organization later started using the Wirephoto network that made it possible to transmit photographs within 24 hours from the time they were taken via telephone lines. In 1945, AP began broadcasting its news by distributing them to established radio stations. In 1974, the organization established a radio network for itself. Later in 1994, the organization started using APTV, an agency that worked at gathering global news on video. The organization saw the formation of APTN whose aim was to provide video to websites and international broadcasters. AP has managed to diversify its capabilities to an extent that in 2007 alone, its revenues from US newspapers only accounted for about 30% of its total earnings. In the same year, 18% of the organizations revenues were derived from photography and international newspapers, 15% from internet related ventures and 37% from global broadcast activities. According to the n ews agency, AP is a non-profit organization that is owned by 1500 United States daily newspaper members (Associated Press, 2011). The Associated Press has an admirable resource base, mainly in the form of news articles and features. No wonder its news has previously been published or republished by over 5000 radio and TV broadcasters and

Supply Chain Management Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 4000 words
Supply Chain Management - Essay Example The linking of information systems on the Internet, provides the business with one set of information, such as status of counts in the warehouse and the consumersââ¬â¢ payment information, while the customer finds out through the companyââ¬â¢s Internet portal just how much of the product the business has, and the projected delivery dates. Amazon.com is one such example of purchasing online with a two-sided supply chain infrastructure. In the wholesale jewellery components industry, the more you buy, the greater discount you get on your supplies, as shown in the figure (1) above. Therefore, the ability to see the discounts in the components ordering sheet, allows for cost savings up front. Alternatively, showing online how many components are left in stock, particularly if there are only a limited few, or if it is in the process of being discontinued, gives a business time to find other resources and get the purchasing infrastructure up and running in time for the next order (Fire Mountain Gems, 20115; Ackerman & Bodgraven, 2007). Account holders also see all previous orders in case they want to re-order a particular item, or a complete former order. Shipping is a standard USD 5.00, no matter how much you order, a bargain for larger orders. For such a company, communicating with its customers, including dealing with complaints and developing resolutions, is essential to continued successful relationships to provid e what the customers want. The purchasing and chain management infrastructures must be efficient and reliable, both inside the business and outside to the customers (Ackerman & Bodgraven, 2007). To achieve such efficiency, requires a joint venture correlation between the IT department (handles database and web development), the product purchasing department, and the sales and marketing department, each of whom provide the information required as to what is needed for an online

Corporate Ethics Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Corporate Ethics - Essay Example Also I have personally spoken to some of the employees to understand and identify the key areas. Add to that some research about the history of the company has also been done. Based on the meeting the following areas requiring change has been identified. Identifying the Areas requiring change HR functioning is a very much core and specialized area. But the HR functions of the organization is scattered among individuals. This consists of some employees belonging to the administrative position looking after paper works and a management team looking after HR issues. There we need to achieve centralization. During the meeting and the one on one conversation it was identified there is scope to improve the morale of the employees. Some of the employees were a bit unsure about their job description. This is something that needs to be changed. One the major problems faced by the organization has been relatively high attrition rate (Goswami, 2010). Probable Action Plan In order to have a full y functional centralized HE department, we need to hire some HR executives to look after the core areas such as recruitment, payroll processing, performance management, etc. Also these executives act as a touch point to various departments. The employees looking after the admin work can also be a part of the HR department forming HR and admin division. We must make sure that detailed Job descriptions are prepared across the all departments. The HR manager should entrust the responsibility to the executives looking after different departments. The executive should carry out a job interview for specific job holders to prepare a detailed and appropriate job description. Along with job description the employees should be provided the KRA or key result areas, so that the employees can understand the parameters based on which they can be judged. The organization must have a proper performance management system. This will not only help the employees identify strengths and areas of developm ent, but also help the employees to understand how they could contribute towards the success of the organization in future. One the major problems faced by the organization has been attrition. Therefore to diagnose the problem we should ensure that there is a structured salary, increment and recognition system. It should be made clear to the employees that the increments would be performed based on the findings of the performance management system. Also to motivate the employees there would be existence of reward and recognition system. This would include both monetary as well as non monetary rewards. During the meeting with the employees and managers, some key players should be identified. Those employees could be granted Employee Stock Option Plan (ESOP). During the meeting with the employees we found out that there is a need for training, especially for the people who are at constant touch with the customers. For, example customer services reps and sales & marketing professionals . Hence, the corporate team may identify a relevant training partner to impart training. The training could be provided in small pilot batches. Elements of Diagnosis Plan Probable Results Proper JD and KRA Better understanding of roles and responsibilities Proper Internal communication Credibility and Trust Well Designed Performance Management System Helps the employees to identify strengths and weaknesses Salary, increment and recognition system Acts a motivating factor ESOP Retention of key players Training and

Armitages and Keeble-Allens Undertaking a structured Literature Review Essay
Armitages and Keeble-Allens Undertaking a structured Literature Review or Structuring a Literature Review, Tales from the Field Article Critique - Essay Example The study conducted by the two researchers relies on a number of credible secondary sources for the literature review. The primary data on the other hand was gathered from the field with a sample of four master students. The methodology applied by the researchers is credible in that it abides by established methods of research. In particular, the researchers relied on unstructured interviews to gather primary data from the sample during their supervisory sessions. Critique of the Evidence Used During research, it is normally in order to use a in some cases, especially if the population under study is extremely high or when associated costs of conducting the study are extremely high (Patton 2002). While the researchers used a small sample in conducting their study, it is beyond doubt that the evidence used was adequate and accurate. The data from the unstructured interviews with master students was adequate and is representative of what other students encounter while conducting their studies at the undergraduate and master levels. The study also ââ¬âprovides evidence based on 18 secondary sources that are recent (from 1995 to-date), credible and authored by authoritative sources.
